Physical Characteristics of BioLogiQ’s NuPlastiQ

  1. Thermoplastic– The glass transition point is about 70 to 100 degrees centigrade
  2. Thixotropic– Exists in a solid state at room temperature but flows like a liquid when heat and pressure or frictional movement is applied. Pellets can be used the same as other petroleum-based pellets in the standard plastics production process.
  3. Excellent Gas barrier– Products made with these starch pellets exhibit excellent oxygen gas barrier characteristics.
  4. Edible- The resin is made using raw materials that are all edible.
  5. Water resistant- The resin is resistant to swelling and heat to the point that it will not even completely dissolve in boiling water for 5 minutes.
  6. Stable– Does not exhibit retrogradation even if left in high humidity conditions.
  7. Low Cost– Can be manufactured at a cost that is competitive with traditional PE plastic resins.
  8. Mixable with other polymers– Good compatibility with other resins like PBAT, PBS, PLA, PP, PE, PS and others
  9. Low moisture content– Although raw starch powder contains 13% water, the finished starch resin pellets manufactured by BioLogiQ contain less than 1% water.
  10. Biodegradable– High-speed biodegradation based on microbial assimilation.
